Pacbrake Exhaust Brake for Medium-Duty Engines

by Tire groups lobby for reserve pressure capacity requirement for tires

Pacbrake, the Surrey, B.C., manufacturer of exhaust brakes, has produced its MCXB in a four-inch exhaust pipe version, giving medium-duty engine users a brake that approaches the power you’d find on diesels in class-8 trucks.

The computer-controlled MCXB electronically adjusts and closes off more exhaust at lower engine rpm, providing enough braking so you don’t have to manually downshift. It’s available for Cummins (B, ISB, C, ISC, ISL), Caterpillar (3116, 3126, 3126B &E), and Navistar (HT530E, DT466E, DT530E) engines. The MCXB remains virtually invisible to the driver and is controlled by an on-off dash switch.

A five-inch MCXB and regular exhaust brake for class-8 trucks are planned for introduction later this year, the company says.
