SANTA FE SPRINGS, CA – Phillips Industries has hired Gerry Mead, formerly the executive vice president of maintenance at US Xpress, as executive director – innovation.

In the new role, Mead will be responsible for product innovation initiatives and meeting the challenges of future trucks and trailers. At US Xpress he played a key role in the fleet’s adoption of technologies and maintenance practices, the company says.

Prior to US Xpress he held maintenance roles at JB Hunt, Walmart, and PAM Transport.

“Gerry has demonstrated through our longstanding relationship with him that he understands our objectives, and more importantly, he has the skills, hands-on experience, and industry relationships to add tremendous value,” said Rob Phillips, president and Chief Operating Officer.
