Police hunt blue tractor-trailer after tow truck driver fatally struck on Hwy. 401

Ontario Provincial Police are searching for a commercial motor vehicle that failed to remain at a collision on Highway 401 that killed a tow truck operator.

On Dec. 3 at 7:18 a.m., members of the Oxford OPP detachment, paramedic services and fire services responded to a fail-to-remain collision in the westbound lanes, west of Oxford Road 3 in the Township of Blandford-Blenheim, according to a news release.

Emergency crews found a tow truck operator who had been struck by an unknown vehicle while assisting a motorist. The 42-year-old man from Kitchener, Ont. was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are asking for help identifying the pictured commercial motor vehicle and its occupant or occupants. The vehicle is described as a blue tractor-trailer with a black tarp on top. Anyone with information or dashcam footage is asked to contact the Oxford OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

  • Hopefully he (the truck driver with the blue truck and black tarp on top) crossed over into the United States of America to deliver his load and is in a US prison tonight, awaiting a very very long lengthy and painful extradition back into Canada, to stand trial and hard time in the Canadian prison system, or be permanently extradited back to his home country. Whichever he chooses.
    That is the very least punishment he deserves after what he did to the tow truck driver, the tow truck drivers family, the OPP, first responders, and the Provincial Government of Ontario.
