SC Fuels acquires Downs Energy’s cardlock, fueling, lubricants assets
SC Fuels, a subsidiary of Pilot Travel Centers, has acquired the cardlock, fueling, and lubricants assets of Downs Energy, expanding its footprint across Southern California.
The deal, which closed on Oct. 1, strengthens SC Fuels’ ability to meet the region’s growing demand for petroleum products and services, the company said in a news release. The acquisition gives the company access to more than 50 cardlock fueling locations and an expanded end-to-end fuel delivery network.

“Together, SC Fuels and Downs Energy bring nearly two centuries of exceptional service with a customer-first approach, and this acquisition increases our ability to provide responsive, reliable and localized fuel supply,” said Sherry Thomas, vice-president of wholesale at Pilot Company, in the release. “As we welcome new team members and customers, we look forward to being Southern California’s single choice provider of fuel, lubricants and fleet card services.”
As part of the transition, Downs Energy employees supporting cardlock, fueling, and lubricants operations will join SC Fuels and Pilot Company.
Founded in 1930, SC Fuels serves more than 11,000 customers annually, delivering bulk fuels, wholesale unbranded fuels, lubricants and alternative fuels.
