Trucking HR Canada (THRC) has secured new funding to support 335 post-secondary student work placements in the trucking and logistics sector as a part of its Career ExpressWay program.

The funding, provided through the Government of Canada’s Student Work Placement Program, will cover placements beginning in the spring and summer 2025 academic terms, running until March 2026.

The Student Work Placement stream has already helped 314 companies offer employment opportunities to 1,465 students nationwide, introducing them to non-driving roles in the sector, THRC said in a news release. Employers can receive up to $7,000 per student to offset hiring costs and provide work-integrated learning opportunities.

“Over the past few years, employers have been incredibly successful using this stream of Career ExpressWay to bolster staffing and introduce a new generation to trucking and logistics as an attractive, progressive career option,” said Craig Faucette, chief program officer at Trucking HR Canada.

THRC partners with over 125 post-secondary institutions to connect students in transportation, logistics, and supply chain programs with real-world training.
