Three provinces to hold truck convoys for Special Olympics next month

Manitoba, Ontario and Nova Scotia will host their annual truck convoys in September to support Special Olympics athletes.

These convoys, organized in partnership with local Law Enforcement Torch Runs, have become significant fundraising and awareness-raising events in several provinces, uniting the trucking community in support of local athletes. The funds collected from donations and registration fees help fund athletes’ training, programs, and competitions.

Manitoba’s convoy is set for Sept. 7, starting at Île-des-Chênes, southeast of Winnipeg, and trucks rumbling along the Perimeter Highway.

Ontario’s 20th annual convoy will take place on Sept. 14 at the Paris Fairgrounds (139 Silver Street, Paris, Ont.). Last year’s event raised more than $81,000.

Nova Scotia’s convoy will be held a week after, on Sept. 21. In 2023, the rally featured 225 trucks and raised more than $150,000 for the province’s athletes.

However, these are not the only provinces in Canada where truckers support the Special Olympics.

Saskatchewan’s 11th annual truck pull took place from July 31 to Aug. 3 this year, and Prince Edward Island held its convoy on Aug. 25.

  • A very good idea and a great way to support disabled people and bring awareness
The Ont gov should require all truck insurance companies to have to agree to insure drivers that are disabled and still able to drive as one large truck insurance company has been telling fleets to get rid of all their disabled drivers I have been told
