The Timken Company has announced it is now is supplying its Wheel Boss wheel-end solution product line for N trailer axles, a standard trailer axle with a capacity of 22,500 pounds.

Comprised of a patented HDL grease seal, non-vented hub cap and adjusting nut used with Timken bearings, the Wheel Boss system reduces wheel-end problems and increases truck and trailer uptime. The HDL seal grease seal is designed to recirculate grease within the bearing, keeping contamination out and lubrication in. The unique design of the seal lips allows the seal to vent internal pressure. Because of this the grease seal does not require a vented hub cap, resulting in fewer contaminants and less maintenance, the company says.

In addition to tapered roller bearings, the final component to the system is the specially-designed adjusting nut, which has a unique locking method that provides exact bearing setting. Because the adjusting nut locks tightly to the spindle, instead of a tang in the keyway, the spindle thread life is also improved, the company says.
