Former APTA president Donald Fillmore passed away
Trucking veteran Donald ‘Donnie’ Fillmore, 72, of Clairville, N.B., passed away Nov. 2.
His career in trucking spanned decades. He was a former president of Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association (APTA) and owner and operator of Fillmore Trucking and Atlantic Pacific Transport.
Even after stepping back from longhaul trucking, Fillmore and his wife, Marie, continued to serve the industry by guiding drivers with special loads to destinations, always helping others on the road, the Ontario Trucking Association shared in an announcement.
Fillmore also was a steadfast supporter of his sons, Donnie and Mark, frequently attending their hockey and ball games. Later in life, his grandchildren brought him profound joy, and he embraced the role of “Papa” with great pride, the announcement reads. Beyond his family and trucking, Filmore was deeply involved in his community, serving on the boards of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Clairville, the Rec Council, and the Rexton Credit Union. He was also president of the Mud Bog Association and was active in the local snowmobile club.

The committee aims to foster collaboration among policing partners, the MTO, and the trucking industry to enhance road safety across the province. Its initiatives include joint enforcement operations and educational engagements with the trucking sector.
