Trucking Announcements: Ryder names Diez as president, Charbonneau joins Globocam

This week, Manitoulin transport gave back to local communities across Ontario and Lori Knudson of RST Sunbury Transport has been recognized as the Atlantic Recruiter of the Year.

Meanwhile, Mélanie Charbonneau has been named senior director of marketing and communications at Globocam. Ryder promoted John J. Diez to president and chief operating officer; Succeeding Diez as executive vice-president and chief financial officer is Cristina Gallo-Aquino.

Manitoulin Transport donates to food banks, local organizations

Manitoulin Transport is giving back to the communities across Ontario by making donations to several food banks and other organizations.

The company said on LinkedIn that its terminals contributed to the Good Neighbours Embrun Food Bank, London Food Bank, Peterborough Humane Society, Kawartha Food Share, Ailsa Craig Food Bank, Community Living for Dryden/Sioux Lookout, Helping Hand Foodbank Tillsonburg, and the St. Thomas Aquinas Breakfast/Food Program.

Charbonneau joins Globocam

Mélanie Charbonneau has been named senior director of marketing and communications at Globocam, bringing 20 years of marketing experience and 13 years in the transportation industry to her new role.

She will focus on driving innovation and strengthening the company’s customer-centric approach, Charbonneau said in a LinkedIn post.

Before joining Globocam, she served as marketing director at Cleo for more than three years. Earlier in her career, Charbonneau spent nearly a decade at Isaac Instruments, including two years as vice-president of communications and marketing.

Knudson named Atlantic Recruiter of the Year

Lori Knudson of RST Sunbury Transport has been recognized as the Atlantic Recruiter of the Year by the Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association (APTA).

Highly regarded by her team, professional drivers, and the industry as a whole, Knudson was celebrated for her ability to build meaningful connections with drivers from their first interaction and maintain strong relationships over the years, the APTA said in a statement.

“Recruitment serves as the backbone of a thriving trucking industry, ensuring companies meet growing demands with a skilled and dependable workforce. Through her ability to connect top talent with the right opportunities, Lori has been instrumental in driving success and growth across the region,” the announcement said.

Ryder names Diez as president and COO, Gallo-Aquino to succeed him as CFO

Ryder System has announced the promotion of John J. Diez to president and chief operating officer (COO), effective Jan.1, 2025. Diez, who has been with Ryder for 22 years, will oversee the general management of all three of Ryder’s business segments in his new role, continuing to report to chairman and chief executive officer Robert Sanchez.

Succeeding Diez as executive vice-president and chief financial officer (CFO) is Cristina Gallo-Aquino, who has been with the company since 2004.

Gallo-Aquino, currently senior vice-president, controller, and principal accounting officer, will take on her new role on Jan. 1, overseeing all financial management functions, including finance, accounting, treasury, tax, audit, and investor relations. She will also continue as principal accounting officer.

Diez has held various leadership roles at Ryder, including president of the company’s fleet management solutions (FMS) and dedicated transportation solutions business units, where he led strong revenue growth and improved returns. He most recently served as Ryder’s CFO since May 2021.

Gallo-Aquino has extensive financial experience and previously served as vice-president and CFO for Ryder’s FMS business unit and as corporate controller.
