Trucking Announcements: VP appointments at Plus, Goodyear; Elgin Industries names CFO

This week, Plus has appointed Earl Adams as its vice-president of public policy and regulatory affairs, and Goodyear named Don Metzelaar as a senior vice-president of global manufacturing and supply chain. Meanwhile, Elgin Industries has named Susan Liddi as its chief financial officer.

Adams joined Plus

Plus, an autonomous driving software company, has appointed Earl Adams as its vice-president of public policy and regulatory affairs. He will be succeeding Wiley Deck, who has left the company to pursue other opportunities.

Adams will oversee regulatory developments and safety advocacy as Plus continues to collaborate with commercial vehicle makers, according to a news release.

He brings more than 20 years of experience in regulatory counseling, public policy, and safety advocacy within the transportation industry. Adams previously served as deputy administrator and chief counsel at the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, where he led the agency’s drafting of safety rules for autonomous commercial vehicles and acted as a liaison to the Office of the Secretary’s autonomous working group.

Adams also has experience in the private sector, having served as a partner in Hogan Lovells’ transportation regulatory practice, where he led the firm’s autonomous vehicle working group before joining Plus.

“Earl’s unmatched experience in transportation policy and his ability to connect diverse stakeholder groups will be instrumental to the next phase of our growth,” said David Liu, chief executive officer and co-founder of Plus, in a release.

Goodyear names senior VP, global manufacturing and supply chain

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company has appointed Don Metzelaar as its senior vice-president of global manufacturing and supply chain, effective Jan. 13. Metzelaar will report directly to Mark Stewart, Goodyear’s chief executive officer and president.

Metzelaar brings more than 30 years of experience in managing complex manufacturing operations, the company said in a news release. He most recently served as chief manufacturing officer and global vice-president at Johnson Controls International, where he led manufacturing process transformations, emphasizing factory flows and systems integration.

Before Johnson Controls, Metzelaar held leadership roles at Whirlpool Corporation, Honeywell International, and Motorola.

In his new role, he will oversee Goodyear’s global operations, including manufacturing, supply chain, environmental health and safety, business continuity, manufacturing engineering, and quality. His responsibilities will include optimizing product planning, enabling product lifecycle management.

Elgin Industries appoints Liddi as chief financial officer

Elgin Industries has named Susan Liddi, who joined the company in early 2024 as a controller, as its chief financial officer.

In her new role, Liddi will oversee financial operations, risk management, capital expenditures, and compliance, among other responsibilities.

Before joining Elgin, she was general manager of IT managed services at Mechdyne Corporation. Liddi also served as finance and operations director at The Recycling Partnership and spent nearly 13 years in various roles at British Petroleum.
