Western Women with Drive focused on workforce diversity, leadership
Western Women with Drive concluded in Calgary last week after a day of industry networking, professional development, and discussions focused on building a modern, inclusive trucking and logistics workforce across Western Canada.
Organized by Trucking HR Canada (THRC) in partnership with the provincial trucking associations in Alberta, B.C., Manitoba, and Saskatchewan, the event brought together professionals from across the region to share strategies for attracting and supporting women in the industry.

The event featured a keynote from psychologist Jody Carrington and a morning address from author and executive Angela Champ. Attendees also heard new findings from THRC’s research into the experiences of women working in trucking and logistics, along with a panel discussion on regional workforce strategies featuring leaders from each provincial association.
A highlight of the day was the recognition ceremony for 15 new organizations joining THRC’s Women’s Leadership Accord, bringing the total number of signatories to 29, THRC says. The Accord supports employer actions around recruiting, retaining, and advancing women in the trucking and logistics sector.

Manitoba Trucking Association executive director Aaron Dolyniuk delivered closing remarks.
“It was a great day of meaningful learning and networking with industry professionals from across all Western provinces,” said Angela Splinter, CEO of Trucking HR Canada, in a news release. “Thank you to our partners: Alberta Motor Transport Association, British Columbia Trucking Association, Manitoba Trucking Association, and Saskatchewan Trucking Association.”
Western Women with Drive, held since 2015, is a regional counterpart to the national Women with Drive Leadership Summit in Toronto, now in its 11th year.
