The award is named after Geri Cox, who founded Polaris Transportation Group in 1994. For more than 50 years, Cox’s leadership has not only shaped Polaris but also created a supportive environment for women to excel within the company and the broader industry, WTFC said in a news release.

The award recognizes male ‘allies’ who have demonstrated a commitment to advancing the inclusion of women in trucking through intentional and positive actions.

“These allies play a crucial role in driving positive change, breaking down barriers, and ensuring that women have the same opportunities to succeed as their male counterparts,” the release reads. “By recognizing and honoring these individuals, we aim to inspire more positive changes and support the ongoing efforts to make the trucking industry a place where everyone can thrive.”

Nominations for the award are open until Aug. 23. Applicants must submit a 500-word nomination letter to inquiries@wtfc.ca, explaining the nominee’s contributions and impact in the industry along with the two letters of support, a photo, and the nominee’s contact information.

The award will be presented at the Bridging the Barriers conference, which will be held on Sept. 17 in Mississauga, Ont.
