Metis protest along Alta. routes
FORT MCMURRAY, Alta. — An Alberta Metis group held a “friendly protest” along the highways leading to oilsands capital Fort McMurray this week.
The angry group says it wants to publicize its bid for a share of petroleum revenues.
The Metis Nation of Alberta Zone 1, with about 3,500 members in the Lac La Biche area, held up signs of protest and distributed pamphlets to motorists along highways 881 and 63 leading to oil-sands operations.
