B.C. driving champs rewarded
ABBOTSFORD, B.C. — The 2002 B.C. Professional Truck Driving Championships have wrapped up, with a full slate of winners readying themselves for the national championships.
The Tradex Centre in Abbotsford was the site of this year’s provincial competition which involved a written test, a circle check and actual driving.
The winners advancing onto the national championships include: John Lawley, Reimer Express Lines, straight truck; Evan Hirst, Canadian Freightways, single tractor/single trailer; Dale Scott, Canadian Freightways, single tractor/tandem trailer; John Broker, Martin Brower of Canada, tandem trailer; Adam Besse, Noco Transport, b-train.
Broker also took home top honors as grand champion, while rookie of the year honors went to Lawley. The team trophy was presented to Canadian Freightways and that company’s Bill Alexander won the safety award.
