Fee increase in Rhode Island
PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Legislation was passed in the beginning of the summer to increase fees for overweight vehicles running Rhode Island.
The fines for excess axle weights and violations of the bridge formula will rise between $100 to $125. Also, the bill increases penalties for overweight commercial vehicles from $80 to $125 per thousand pounds.
Vehicles operating in excess of 104,00lb will also see a penalty increase of $1,000 to $1,025. The legislation is already in effect.
