MPI survey: Young drivers worst speeders
WINNIPEG, Man. — Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) has found that about 22 per cent of the province’s drivers exceed the speed limit very frequently or often.
According to the survey conducted by MPI, 33 per cent of speeders say they speed because they’re not paying attention. A further 33 per cent said they speed to make up time.
Nine per cent of respondents said they speed because the posted speed limits are simply too slow. The survey also suggested young drivers are the worst offenders, with about 50 per cent of respondents between the ages of 18 and 24 admitting to speeding very frequently or often.
