BREAKING NEWS: Farmers block Seaway border crossing
CORNWALL, Ont. — Trucks crossing the Seaway International Bridge were the target of a farmer-led protest today which slowed traffic to a crawl.
The farmers were protesting to get attention from the Conservative governments caucus which is scheduled to meet in Cornwall this week. The farmers are seeking increases in federal aid.
“We don’t want to inconvenience the public too much,” farmer John Vanderspank told the Canadian Press. “We do want to stop the truck imports for a few hours.”
Locals on the scene reported traffic was backed up for nearly a kilometre in each direction as farmers used their tractors to block traffic.
