TORONTO, Ont. — It was a three-peat for TruckNews.com last Wednesday night when the Web site was named among the five best business Web sites in Canada for the third straight year. The announcement was made during the 54th Annual Kenneth R. Wilson Awards at The Old Mill in Toronto. The KRW awards celebrate excellence in writing and graphic design in Canada’s specialized business, professional and farm publications.

Truck News and sister publication Truck West also had four writing nods. “Seeing green” by managing editor Adam Ledlow received a Silver Award in the Best Profile of a Company category. The story profiled Lange Transportation and Storage’s efforts to go green, including the painstaking process of installing geothermal technology.

Executive editor James Menzies’ article “Up in smoke” placed among the top five stories in the Best News Coverage category. The story detailed Ontario’s questionable ban on waste oil heaters.

Menzies and Ledlow each garnered top ten nominations as well: Menzies for “Mexican Invasion?” also in the Best News Coverage category, and Ledlow for “Shattered Life” in the Best Profile of a Person category. Menzies’ story looked at Canada’s role in the controversial US pilot project allowing Mexican trucks to operate in the US, while Ledlow’s story told the trials of Lars Christensen, whose life was turned upside down after a rock was thrown through the windshield of his truck.
