THE COST OF CHANGING JOBS

Avatar photo

It’s well documented how driver churn hurts carriers. Now a Truckload Carriers Association study shows the effects of changing jobs on drivers. According to the U.S. study, a driver that changes jobs eight times during his 30-years in the industry will have four months throughout their career for non-compensated time-off which is associated with job changes and 21 months without medical coverage from a company.

THE ASSOCIATED COSTS

Reduction in earnings:

$11,014.16

(.0305 cents per mile x 4 months x 9,028 miles per month)

Cost of lost medical coverage:

$3,696.00

($176 x 21 months for single-person coverage)
