Detroit Diesel offers DPF exchange/remanufacturing program
REDFORD, Mich. — It’s almost time to clean or replace those diesel particulate filters (DPFs) that came attached to 07 model year trucks, and Detroit Diesel has launched a new cleaning and recycling program in response.
The company says it has developed a proprietary cleaning process to minimize downtime and reduce waste.
Detroit Diesel service outlets are offering a DPF exchange program and will then send used filters to the company’s remanufacturing facility where they’ll undergo extensive cleaning, the company reports. The cleaning process uses de-ionized water to restore the filter to about 95% of its original effectiveness.
The company says customers will get longer life from their ‘Reliabilt’ remanufactured DPF thanks to this cleaning process. The program has already recycled more than 7,000 filters, Detroit Diesel reports.
“Not only is the Detroit Diesel remanufactured DPF restored to almost new, it saves our customers money because the remanufactured DPF is more cost-effective than a new part,” said Richard Marcis, manager of Reliabilt product engineering for Detroit Diesel.
