Canada Cartage acquisition of D.J. Knoll closes

MISSISSAUGA, ON- Fleet outsourcing provider Canada Cartage has completed its acquisition of Saskatchewan-based D.J. Knoll Transport, which specializes in hauling dry bulk freight, liquid bulk freight, truck-load and LTL dry freight.

“We’re excited to have the staff, drivers and leadership team at D.J. Knoll join Canada Cartage,” says Canada Cartage President and CEO Jeff Lindsay.

“This acquisition not only increases our scale of operations in Saskatchewan, but also gives us strategic entry into the dry bulk and liquid tanker markets,” adds Canada Cartage Vice President and General Manager for Manitoba-Saskatchewan, Dave Tardi. “We see excellent growth opportunities in the grain, fertilizer and other commodity markets in Western Canada.”

D.J. Knoll has about 100 staff and drivers and was named as one of North America’s “Best Fleets to Drive For” in both 2012 and 2014 by the Truckload Carriers Association and CarriersEdge. It also won Volvo’s Best Driver of the Year award and Cervus Equipment Peterbilt’s Best Dispatcher of the Year award in 2014.

The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
