Phillips Industries enhances Weather-Tite M2

by Today's Trucking

Phillips Industries says it has improved performance of its Weather-Tite M2 liftgate electrical assemblies and has introduced new M2 Charge Kits, combining the enhanced Weather-Tite M2 with easy-to-install cable support.

The enhancements are designed to reduce corrosion which can lead to faulty liftgates. Most liftgate connections use zine diecast housings with unsealed open backs, Phillips says. This allows corrosion to form over time.

The Weather-Tite M2 has dual pole J3082 plugs that Phillips says are unbreakable, non-corrosive, and completely molded to the electrical cable. The seal at the front of the plug blocks moisture and contaminants from getting past the connected union inside the socket so corrosion doesn’t form.

The previously blue seal is now red to make it easier to identify liftgate battery charging applications. And assemblies feature new cable guard sleeves to enhance strain relief protection at the back of the plugs, extending cable life.
