Canadian, U.S. Diesel Prices Lowest in Several Years
LONDON, ON and WASHINGTON, D.C -- The national average price of diesel is showing no signs of stopping its recent string of declines while hitting its lowest point in years. Trucking's main fuel fell $0.011 from a week ago to $1.05 per liter, the eighth consecutive weekly drop and the lowest price since November 2010, according to the petroleum information services provider The Kent Group. Compared to this week in 2014 the price $0.247 less per liter.
Mack, Volvo Trucks Ink Deal with Omnitracs
GREENSBORO, NC - Mack Trucks and Volvo Trucks North America have reached an agreement with the fleet management services provider Omnitracs to develop new services for their customers. It covers future service options for Mack Fleet Management Services, expanding Mack's fleet management offerings, to provide customers with more choices to boost safety and lower costs through improved operational performance, according to the truck maker.
Concerns at U.S. GHG Hearing, Canada Expected to Adopt
LONG BEACH, CA - Proposed regulations, expected to adopted by Canada, regarding U.S. greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and fuel efficiency standards for medium- and heavy-duty trucks were the focus of a public hearing on Tuesday in California. Officials from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) held the event to gather comments about their joint proposal. An earlier hearing was held this month in Chicago. Representatives from government and environmental agencies, manufacturers, fleets and other related organizations were allowed five minutes each to make a public statement on the proposed Phase 2 GHG rules as currently outlined. A panel of top members from EPA and NHTSA listened and posed clarifying questions.
Edmonton Kenworth Opens Major Full-Service Facility
LEDUC, AB -- Edmonton Kenworth recently opened a major, new full-service dealership with 42 service bays in Leduc, Alberta. The facility is on 16 acres at 8202 42nd Street near the Edmonton International Airport. It features an 111,500-square-foot main building with an indoor showroom large enough for customers to view up to four Kenworth trucks out of the elements.
