Hazmat background checks hurting truckers: Celadon boss
WASHINGTON -- The five-month-old hazardous materials truck driver background check implemented by the Transportation Security Administration as is hurting the trucking industry by imposing higher operating costs and deterring drivers from obtaining "hazmat" endorsements, a top trucking executive testified before Congress this week.

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- A Pennsylvania state lawmaker has introduced a bill that would fine drivers for failing to remove ice and snow off of their vehicles. Truckers operating heavy vehicles could be charged as much as $1,500 under the rule.
