Eaton offering remote diagnostics on automated transmissions

by Truck News

HANOVER, Germany — Eaton has announced the availability of a new IntelliConnect remote diagnostics platform for its automated transmissions.

The system provides near real-time monitoring of vehicle fault codes related to the transmission. Alerts are provided to the fleet manager through Navistar’s OnCommand Connection portal, an existing telematics portal or through EatonIntelliConnect.com.

The system provides an action plan for operators and covers other vehicle components beyond the transmission. Eaton is working with Omnitracs to deliver the system.

“IntelliConnect is about seamlessly connecting our customer’s data with Eaton’s deep vehicle knowledge, and providing solutions that reduce the amount of time a customer will need to diagnose a problem and repair a vehicle,” said Gerard Devito, chief technology officer, Eaton Vehicle Group. “Omnitracs Fault Monitoring application easily creates the link that our customers need to access the benefits that only we can provide for Eaton transmissions.”

“Today, fleets are overwhelmed with an enormous amount of truck information they don’t always have the means to interpret,” added Rich Glasmann, vice president, OEM strategy, sales and marketing, Omnitracs. “Omnitracs’ Extended Fault Monitoring application enables Eaton’s Intelliconnect to provide a proactive approach to Automated Transmission maintenance and repair while augmenting the value we provide to our mutual customers. This partnership further emphasizes Omnitracs’ commitment to developing critical solutions that help fleets operate more efficiently.”
