CALGARY, Alta. – The 18 Wheels of Christmas campaign wrapped up its most successful food drive yet, this holiday season. About 65,000 lbs of food was collected by the trucking industry this year.

Lloydminster contributed six skids, Medicine Hat five skids, Edmonton six skids and Calgary collected 39 skids of food. In Calgary alone, a 48-foot trailer and five-tonne truck were filled with the donated food.

The food was contributed to the food bank serving the communities where it was collected.

“We were so excited and happy with everything this year,” said Colleen Nickel who was project coordinator along with colleague Dale Hart.
