RED DEER, Alta. – Red Deer will host Alberta’s Annual Provincial Truck Driving Championships this year on June 8.

The Alberta Motor Transport Association (AMTA) is encouraging trucking companies to support their drivers’ efforts in competing in the event, and are calling on fleets to help promote the championships.

There are six categories in this year’s event, including: step van; straight truck; single axle tractor and trailer; single axle tractor and tandem axle trailer; tandem tractor tandem trailer; and b-train.

Trucking companies are allowed to enter as many drivers as they wish in each category, but individual drivers may only compete in one category.

While the event is already in the planning, the AMTA is looking for more volunteers to help make it a success. The event is being held at the Red Deer Westerner Park. An awards banquet will follow the competition. Call 800-267-1003 for more information.
