LOUISVILLE, Ky. – ArvinMeritor announced the April availability of a 2.50 ratio for its RS-23-160 single axle series. Specifically designed to work with low speed engines, the ratio will allow truck operators to optimize performance and fuel economy with the new generation of emissions-controlled engines due in the North American market in 2007.

“This new offering is a result of increasing demand for lower numerical ratios,” said Brad Arnold, vice-president and general manager, axles and drivelines, ArvinMeritor. “With our new 2.50 axle ratio, customers can now travel at a cruising speed without sacrificing their fuel mileage.”

With the ratio fully-validated for production, carrier models were modified to accept the new larger hypoid pinion. All axles manufactured after March 2006 will accept the new ratio along with all other production ratios.
