OTTAWA, Ont. – ViaSafe has announced that Averitt Express recently signed on to its ViaTrade carrier program.

The ViaTrade service features a TradeGate component developed in co-operation with the Canadian Society of Customs Brokers (CSCB). The system enables Averitt to pass Bill of Lading and Commercial Documents to the Canadian customs brokerage industry.

This service is set up specifically to facilitate the exchange of information between carriers moving goods into a country and the customs brokers/importers, who are responsible for customs declarations.

Additionally, ViaTrade allows carriers and freight forwarders to submit information to comply with new customs advanced information requirements in both Canada and the United States.

“We are very pleased to have Averitt as a new member of our ViaSafe family of clients,” said Oryst Dydynsky president of ViaSafe International Trade Services. “Clearly in this new era, the collaboration between and amongst the trade chain partners will be a key element in getting the job done.”

ViaSafe is a provider of secure electronic logistics services for global trade. Partnering with industry associations, such as the Canadian Society of Customs Brokers (CSCB) and the Canadian International Freight Forwarding Association (CIFFA), ViaSafe enables rapid, secure and accurate information exchange by connecting importers, exporters, carriers, brokers, freight forwarders and government agencies or departments.
