B.C borders to get $30.4 million boost
VICTORIA, B.C. – Federal transport minister, David Collenette, together with the province of B.C., will fund 11 border crossing initiatives with a joint $30.4 million.
The projects are a part of the Strategic Highway Infrastructure Program (SHIP), and the funding will be implemented in fiscal years 2002/2003 and 2005/2006.
The federal funds are drawn from the $65 million portion of SHIP allocated specifically for border crossing transportation initiatives.
“These improvements to our border infrastructure will ease the free flow of goods, increase economic benefits in a range of sectors and improve security at border crossings,” says Judith Reid, transportation minister for B.C.
