LANGLEY, B.C. – Gary Patrickson of Northwest Tank Lines has been named B.C.’s professional Driver of the Year by the B.C. Trucking Association (BCTA).

The 33-year driving veteran has demonstrated a superior safe driving record while transporting hazardous materials through Canada and the Pacific Northwest. His employer has raved about his professionalism, reliability, leadership, dedication and impeccable service, the BCTA reports.

Patrickson works closely with firefighters and paramedics in safety training and helps educate them about the chemicals he hauls. He has also been featured in TV programs and in the mainstream media, informing the public about safety issues.

“When all that distinguishes Northwest from the rest of our competitors is its people and service, Gary’s extra effort and contribution to service excellence are keys to Northwest’s continued success,” says Northwest Tank Lines president, Tom Blaney.

Customers have described Patrickson as “a leader in safety both by following rules and regulations without fail and also making valuable suggestions which have helped us to become a safer place to work” and “a dedicated professional, committed to safety and customer service as well as community education.”

BCTA president Paul Landry adds “Gary represents the best of the best of our industry. He is a deserving individual and we’re proud of his selection.”
