Well-known transportation consultant Dan Goodwill, who is also a columnist for sister publication Canadian Transportation & Logistics and a frequent contributor to sister publication Motortruck Fleet Executive, has formed a strategic alliance with Schneider Logistics to provide transportation advisory services to shippers throughout North America.

Services offered include: benchmark and market intelligence, mode and carrier selection, transportation audits, identification and implementation of best practices in freight transportation, freight rate bidding solutions, route/rate management, freight payment/audit, claims management, analytics and supply chain engineering.

Goodwill, who also pens a blog for ctl.ca, has over 20 years of experience in the transportation sector on both sides of the border. He has held executive level positions in the industry including president of Yellow Transportation’s Canada division, president of Clarke Logistics, general manager of the Railfast division of TNT and vice-president, sales and marketing of TNT Overland Express.

Goodwill and Schneider Logistics will also be partnering with our Transportation Media division to put on an educational seminar for shippers this October. Editorial director Lou Smyrlis has been asked to address industry trends at the event.

Our Transportation Media Research division has just completed several important industry research projects. The Shipper’s Choice Awards Survey solicits the participation of more than 2,000 buyers of transportation services across Canada in setting benchmarks for carrier performance excellence and in identifying the carriers who exceed those benchmarks. The annual survey, now in its sixth year, is conducted in partnership with the Canadian Industrial Transportation Association and CITT. The results have been published in the August issue of Canadian Transportation & Logistics.

Also close to completion is our annual Equipment Buying Trends Survey, conducted in cooperation with more than a dozen industry suppliers. This research details the buying intentions and preferences of both fleets and owner/operators for the coming 12-month period.

Also nearing completion is our 2nd annual Driver Satisfaction Survey aimed at better understanding the attitudes and preferences of company drivers and owner/operators on a number of career-related issues. That report, conducted in partnership with the Canadian Trucking Human Resources Council, will be published in the Sept/Oct issue of Motortruck Fleet Executive.
