Big Rig Event Leaping Into 2004

GRAND BEND, Ont. – Attention exhibitors: The 2004 Earl Hardy Trucking Big Rig Nationals is slated for the Grand Bend Motorplex drag racing facility Sept. 12.

“The Earl Hardy Big Rig Nationals in 2003 was a great starting-out event,” says Grand Bend Motorplex general manager, Ron Biekx.

“We had a great sponsor in Earl Hardy and great response from the truckers and their families who came out to support our first attempt at a real ‘Big Rig’ race. We didn’t make any money, but we made an impression…We also caught the eye of Truck News. …When you want to grow something, you go to the biggest and the best to get the word out, so they were the obvious choice.”

Truck News also recently became the official publication of the Earl Hardy Big Rig Nationals.

And the Ontario Truck Driving School has agreed to become the 2004 event’s presenting sponsor, making the new title of the event: The Earl Hardy Trucking Big Rig Nationals presented by the Ontario Truck Driving School.

“It’s a mouthful, but it represents a big step forward for our event,” says Biekx.

“OTDS is where my dad (Ron Sr.) took his training to get an AZ CVOR and it’s where I took my training to get my own AZ licence.”

“We hit the trifecta!” Biekx concluded, “With Early Hardy Trucking and The Ontario Truck Driving School as our event sponsors and Truck News spreading the word far and wide, this event is going to take off like a rocket-ship in 2004. And you know what? It should! This is Southwestern Ontario we’re talking about. This is Big Rig Country!” For more information contact: Grand Bend Motorplex 519-238-7223.
