OTTAWA, Ont. – The Canadian Border Service Agency has changed the named of its automated Customs Information Service phone line (ACIS) to Border Information Service (BIS).
The change was made to “better reflect the business lines of the Canada Border Services Agency,” says a notice from CBSA.
The name change will be reflected on the Internet, Intranet and in CNBSA publications as they are updated.
BIS (formerly ACIS) is a computerized bilingual 24-hour, 1-800 telephone service that automatically answers all incoming calls and provides general border services information.
Callers can also speak directly to an agent Monday to Friday (except holidays) during regular business hours (8 a.m. to 4 p.m. local time).
There are two call centres: one in Winnipeg, Man. and the other in Saint John, N.B.
You can access BIS free of charge throughout Canada by calling 1-800-461-9999.
From outside Canada, call: (204) 983-3500 or (506) 636-5064 (long-distance charges apply)
