Cavendish extension will finally be built (December 01, 2002)
MONTREAL, Que. – A half-kilometre extension will soon be added onto Cavendish Blvd. in St. Laurent north.
St. Laurent will include the roadwork in a borrowing bylaw that was recently approved by the city executive committee.
The controversial Cavendish extension, which has been discussed for over four decades, has been planned but isn’t expected to be built until 2004, says St. Laurent borough chairman, Alan DeSousa.
DeSousa and the councillors of boroughs that are affected by the Cavendish extension have accepted a proposal by Robert Libman, chairman of the Cute St. Luc/Hampstead/Montreal-West borough, to build a link along Royalmount Ave. to Decarie Expressway when the Cavendish extension is finally built, De-Sousa says.
