CBs Should Never Be Banned

Dear Editor:

This letter is in response to the new law regarding cell phone usage while driving. While I agree with the hands-free approach, I was appalled by the reports that CB radios are to be phased into enforcement in three years.

All I can say is, unreal. I don’t suppose the OPP or municipal police services will have to abide by this new law will they? I myself have not only a CB radio but an FM radio as well, more commonly referred to here in the north as a two-way, which operates exactly the same as a CB radio, which coincidentally is what every police cruiser has installed as well.

But alas, I am sure OPP will be exempt from this law as they are used for safety and communications. All I can say is May 1, 2010. That is when my truck is paid and I can exit the trucking workforce. From the speed limiter law to smoking laws and now potentially CB radios? I am sure there are better things the MTO and OPP can enforce, like the speeding of passenger vehicles.
