BRAMPTON, Ont. – On July 5, ChevronTexaco brought the industry’s best (and maybe in some cases worst) duffers together for two very good causes.

All told 164 golfers helped contribute to a tremendously successful fundraiser for both Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) program Racing Against Drugs.

“We look forward to making this an annual event,” says a ChevronTexaco spokesperson.

Racing Against Drugs is a drug and alcohol awareness program developed in partnership by the RCMP and various other organizations including MADD. It first started in Ontario, on Apr. 23, 1993.

The program has been designed to provide substance abuse professionals including police officers, educators and addiction counsellors with an exciting alternative teaching aid.

The program offers people of all ages the opportunity to experience the world of auto racing while at the same time providing an alternative to drug and alcohol abuse.
