GRAND BEND, Ont. – The Canadian Centre For Decision Driving is now open in Grand Bend. The new school has full classroom facilities, skid training and crash avoidance areas, as well as local access to accommodations and restaurants.

The new facility will be a welcomed alternative to professional drivers wishing to add crash avoidance training to their skills, without the expense and inconvenience of crossing into the U.S. for training at the Michigan Centre for Decision Driving.

With an initial contingent of four tractors, two flatbed trailers and one van trailer, the Canadian Centre For Decision Driving is able to accommodate eight students per session.

Plans for fleet expansion to accommodate 16 students per day are already under way.

“My father is a truck driver and I hold an A/Z licence myself. When we were approached about hosting a defensive driving school at our facility, I jumped on the idea in a hurry.

“It only made sense to me that we do our best to make it easier for our truckers to learn the skills necessary to keep themselves and everyone else safer on our highways.

“We all drive in the busiest commercial corridor in North America.

“Maybe the crash that doesn’t happen because of the training that the Canadian Centre for Decision Driving provides, could be the one between my dad and me,” said Ron Biekx, operator of the new school and Grand Bend Motorplex track.
