Cummins consolidates

COLUMBUS, Ind. – Cummins Inc. announced that it will soon consolidate its heavy-duty engine assembly and test operations into the company’s Jamestown, N.Y. engine plant.

Cummins will continue to manufacture cylinder heads and engine blocks at the Columbus plant, but as a result of the Jamestown plant consolidation approximately 200 positions in the heavy-duty business will be eliminated.

The Jamestown plant uses a more modern assembly line, which allows Cummins to cost-effectively meet their customer requirements, and produce the 11-litre and 15-litre engines more efficiently.
