LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Dana Corporation’s Commercial Vehicle Systems Division introduced a new Dana Spicer Unitized Hub System (UHS) at the show.

The new UHS wheel-end package complements the company’s LMS Hub, which has been proven to “significantly extend” wheel-end life and reduce vehicle maintenance costs,” according to Steve Slesinski, director, product planning, Commercial Vehicle Systems Division. “Like the LMS product, Dana has developed this new system to eliminate the need for bearing adjustment.

“The UHS product has also been designed to reduce the likelihood of seal leaks or lube replacement for one million miles.

“In effect, there is no need to replace hubs, bearings, seals, or lubricant for the life of the vehicle. However, we do recommend, as with any safety-critical truck component, that technicians inspect truck and trailer wheel-ends for any unexpected problem conditions to guarantee optimal performance between the axle and hub system,” adds Slesinski.

The UHS product family is available for steer, drive, and trailer axles. The UHS package is available with an iron hub or a lightweight aluminum hub option, allowing customers to specify the right system to meet their needs.

Production for the UHS product family is scheduled to begin in August of this year.
