AYR, Ont. – After two years, seven months and several headaches, Scott Lawson has the keys to the door and is the new dealer principal of the 38,000 sq.-ft. Volvo dealership here.

“It’s been a long battle,” says Lawson. “I have a great deal of thanks for Jim Pinder, he was instrumental in this.”

The Hwy.s 401 and 97 location is Lawson’s second, joining his already successful Windsor facility. The two will be renamed Expressway Trucks Waterloo and Expressway Trucks Windsor respectively.

A fully equipped lounge, complete with showers, laptop hook-ups and a canteen, is part of what Lawson is excited about when thinking of the Hwy. 97 shop.

The interchange has been completely redesigned and rebuilt so that trucks rolling off the lot or out of the shop will have a straight shot right onto the MacDonald-Cartier.

“We’re ecstatic to start moving in,” he adds, but the big move won’t really happen for a month yet. “We got all the lube equipment going in now … The big move will happen on May 11-13, we’ll take that Monday off and open for business on the Tuesday.”

Employing 36 to start, Expressway Trucks Waterloo will initially be open from 7 a.m. to 2 a.m., Monday to Friday, and then for 10 hours on Saturday.

“You just can’t train the technicians fast enough for us to go 24 hours a day right away,” he concludes. “Once we can get the people, we’ll be open around the clock.”
