Dealing with this government like banging head against the wall

Regarding your online news story “Minister: Speed limiters to be brought forth in timely and effective manner”, when will the minister of transport get her head out of David Bradley’s air space, and listen to the people who are telling her that this speed limiter initiative being pushed by the OTA is not going to enhance safety, but impede the flow of traffic?

Unless they apply these speed-limiting devices to every car, mini-van, delivery truck, and transport out there, the only safe way will be to stay off the roads all together. Experts have proven that split speed limits, like those that are currently in use in the US states such as Michigan, Ohio and Illinois, all have statistics that show an increase in rear impact collisions resulting in unnecessary serious injuries, and deaths. The only real reason David Bradley and the OTA want government imposed speed limiters is that their member large companies already restrict their trucks, and they can’t keep drivers with the new hours of service and they are forcing them into unpaid labour like sitting at docks. If the OTA were to spend as much time, print, and effort on this problem, maybe they could clear up some of the “environmental” problems of idling trucks and lost driving time. Thank you for the chance to vent. We all know dealing with this government bureaucracy is like banging your head against the wall. Boy! It’ feels good when you stop!
