Delo 400 beats new standard

DALLAS, Tex. – Chevron’s Delo 400 Multigrade last month became the only diesel-engine oil to so far meet the first universal performance specification, Global DHD-1.

Before Global DHD-1, lubricants were subject to three specifications, one for Europe, one for Japan and another for North America. Global DHD-1 combines the three, and pegs oils acceptable for use in heavy-duty diesel engines designed to meet 1998, and newer, worldwide exhaust emissions limits.

Given evolving emissions requirements, Global DHD-2 will be developed for 2005 using tests defined by the OEMs from all three global regions. n
