Delphi introduces SRA to reduce NOx

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Delphi’s new smart remote actuator (SRA) will help the heavy-duty diesel engine market meet the stringent 2004 and 2007 emissions standards for NOx while improving fuel economy.

The SRA is a highly accurate, integrated electronic device which is a key building block to the variable geometry turbo chargers of the heavy-duty diesel engine market.

It allows the turbo to provide variable boost to adapt to speed and load conditions, in addition to altitude compensation, shorter engine warm-up cycles and providing engine braking on descending grades.

This technology was adapted from Delphi’s stepper motor cruise and electronic throttle control technologies. From this, engineers were able to quickly develop the smart remote actuator for the commercial vehicle market and add to the company’s engine management systems.
