Diehl takes over STA

SASKATOON, Sask. – The owner of Ray’s Transport has been elected to a two-year term as Saskatchewan Trucking Association president. Dennis Diehl, who succeeded his father as the owner of the Saskatoon, Sask.-based fleet 18 years ago, has been in the industry for a total of 29 years.

“I’m mainly interested in developing transportation fairness and equitableness for all concerned,” he says. “We have to work hard to eliminate discrepancies and to work closer with the government to create an open dialogue on issues.”

Diehl says that the industry is booming, and with the increase in business, there are new obstacles to overcome. He contends that hours of service reform, carrier profiles, and the maintenance and replacement of the provincial infrastructure are the biggest concerns currently facing the membership.

Diehl served on the association’s board for the previous three years before replacing out-going president Don Paul. n
