Don’t lash out at us

Dear Editor,

Premier Mike Harris is way off base on his comments about professional drivers using Hwy. 401 as a zone of protest. The highway is our work zone, and, as such, is funded more by the trucking industry than any other entity.

If the highway system is not ours to use then perhaps it is time to close the weigh stations that monitor us on the road, pass legislation to dump hours of service regulations, say that there is no need for policing and go back to the early years.

In nine months last year, my truck purchased $30,000 worth of diesel fuel in North America. I’d say we more than pay our way.

Lastly, didn’t our military protect Saudi Arabia to prevent such fuel increases, and have they ever paid their dues to North America?

Don’t lash out at us.
