Drivers for Hire

DRIVERS FOR HIRE: Ontario Truck Training Academy hosted a trucking career fair in Oshawa Sept. 8. Dozens of fleets were on-hand to talk to prospective drivers about a career in the trucking industry. Yvette Lagrois said "Every company here has an additional training program, this is not about handing them the keys and letting them go." The program at OTTA consists of 100 hours in the classroom and an additional 100 hours in the truck, Lagrois said. The company had its simulator "("my most expensive truck," as Lagrois said) on-hand to demonstrate the skills needed to be a professional driver. Photo by James Menzies
