TORONTO, Ont. –The room at the Sandman Signature Hotel was abuzz with transportation executives, stakeholders and media as the fourth and final session in the Driving for Profit Seminar Series got underway Oct. 21.

Mark Seymour, president of Kriska Holdings, and Len Anderson, partner of KPMG Enterprise, were back for an encore performance after a well-received presentation in Kingston in August. Seymour offered up practical solutions to make any company better, trucking or otherwise. Anderson, trusted advisor to Seymour, interacted with both him and the audience for over an hour, offering business advice that covered everything from securing the right customers to hiring staff. To see excerpts of the Kingston presentation, watch the Transportation Matters video on Trucknews.com.

Other presenters included Stephen Laskowski, senior vice-president of the Ontario Trucking Association. Laskowski presented on the state of the transportation industry, where the industry is heading and what the industry needs to pay attention to.

And Hugh Loomans, president and CEO of The Sylvite Group of Companies, discussed alternative fuels and green initiatives. The dates for next year’s series have already been selected. Year two will begin: Feb. 3 in Cambridge, Ont.; followed by a stop in Toronto May 5; Hamilton Sept. 15; and returning to Toronto Nov. 3.
