Dwell Times Same At BIT: CIFFA

TORONTO, Ont. – BIT statistics for Jan. 5 to 18 inclusive showed no significant improvement in dwell times compared to earlier weeks, reported the Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association in February.

CIFFA officials called the numbers “disconcerting” given that the prior two weeks were naturally impacted by the holiday season. Monday morning volumes during the same period were lower compared to previous weeks. But the low Monday morning inventory appeared to have been a function of the total volume of imports rather than improved weekend pick-ups, reported the association.

Meanwhile, the changes made to the gate reservation process in December resulted in continued improvement with respect to information provided by the cartage community, said CIFFA.
