MISSISSAUGA, Ont. – Erb Transport recently held a driver awards banquet for the safest drivers operating out of its Toronto terminal. The following are the company’s top 13 safe drivers, who each received awards for their safety performance: David Hamilton, 26 years of safe driving; Bernie Malone, 22 years; Lorne Adams, 20 years; John Sibbins, 18 years; Ignazio Campoli, 17 years; Maurice Desjardins, 17 years; Greg Gardner, 17 years; John Tynkkynnen, 17 years; Mark Mountain, 16 years; Jim Leyser, 14 years; Ray MacNeil, 14 years; Fred McLellan, 14 years; and Bill Smith with 14 years. A total of 20 Erb drivers attended the festivities, which included a dinner and dance.

Andrew Weidner, Toronto terminal manager for the Erb Group of Companies, presented the drivers with the awards, noting their accomplishment was even more special given the fact they have to operate in the challenging Greater Toronto Area. Weidner provided a humorous overview of the history of trucking and also some background on how Erb Transport came to be.

Also featured during the banquet was Truck News executive editor James Menzies, who spoke about the achievements of the trucking industry in reducing its emissions as well as future emissions standards and their implications on the industry.
